[EULESS] — More than 180 students in grades 1-5 from 27 schools in Euless and surrounding cities gathered Saturday for the third annual Euless Math Contest (EMC), showcasing mathematical skills and academic excellence in a community-supported competition.
The contest, held Jan. 10, drew participants from neighborhood elementary schools for a day focused on problem-solving and academic achievement. Educators, families and community members gathered to present awards and recognize student accomplishments.
Harmony School of Innovation–Euless organized the competition to address limited academic opportunities for elementary-aged students. Principal Rasim Damirov said the contest fills an important gap by introducing younger learners to academic challenges early.
"We created EMC to open doors for elementary students," Damirov said. "There are not many academic competition opportunities for students at this level. Through EMC, we are serving our community through education and giving students early exposure to academic challenges that build confidence and excitement for learning."
The contest aims to foster mathematical thinking and provide academic enrichment while strengthening community partnerships through education. Top performers in each grade level received trophies, medals and prizes including iPads, HP Chromebooks and hoverboards.
Community sponsors supporting the event include the City of Euless, Tire Store Service Center, Top Leaders Martial Arts and InterBank, along with other local businesses investing in student success.
"We are proud to sponsor the Harmony School of Innovation–Euless in this Math Contest," said Mr. Gonzalez of Top Leaders ATA Martial Arts.
The Euless Math Contest reflects Harmony's mission to prepare students for college and career success through rigorous STEM education and strong community collaboration.
